LongeronsAmount of hours spent on the longerons: 2.5 February 16, 2009 - 1h Bend the left longeron today. This one went much quicker than the right one.
I also bend the downward bend in both the longerons and put the 17% twist in. Next pics show first a downward bend of 5.3 degrees (close enough for now) and a twist of 16.6 degrees (also close enough for now).
These are now done and will be mounted in the fuse next.
January 10, 2009 - 1.5h Started bending the longerons today. First I cut them both to length using my bandsaw. The other end was resting on my paint helper to make the cutting a bit easier.
I padded my vise with some protecting material to make sure the angles don't get scratched up too much. Used my hacksaw to cut the end out of both longerons (where they will fit into the last bulkhead).
Started bending the right longeron in my vise while comparing the bend to the drawing on the floor. I didn't bend this one completely today because of an appointment with some friends so will have to finish tomorrow.
January 8, 2009 In preparation for longeron bending, I've mounted my vise on the central workbench and took the longerons from their storage location on the wall. These things are long!
